Digging a Ditch for Success

What happens when you’re doing your spiritual practice every day, and you’re not getting obvious intuitive leads or directions to take steps along a path to achieve your goals? Most people decide to do nothing. If you’ve been to one of my workshops, you’ll remember my advice – “you’re not allowed to do nothing.” Without having a really clear and strong lead, you may find that you have an inkling of a hunch or idea. If so, do what I call “digging a ditch.” This means that you take some action and start moving in what you think is the right direction while continuing to ask for more leads and directions along the way.

Digging a ditch is faith in action. I recognize that this may be hard for some people to do. Many of us were taught that we have to do everything ourselves. A quote that I was told as a child is “There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.” The quote promotes taking some form of action, and that’s a good thing. However, it doesn’t allow for spiritual intervention to help you so that your goals manifest in easy and unusual ways. One of my favorite authors, Florence Scovel Shinn, said “Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.” Following your intuition and taking some action allows for unexpected channels to open which may produce results in miraculous ways.

If you’ve adopted the use of spiritual tools and principles that I write about in my books, I hope that you’ve recognized that your CSO spiritual partner can illuminate steps to take that don’t make rational sense. These leads or directions can come through strong thoughts, gut hunches and instincts, messages through others, or through signs external to you. As you commit to taking the first step of action with confidence and faith, things can shift so that your success manifests in easier and more joyful ways. Go ahead and start “climbing up the stairs” to success if you feel led by your CSO partner to do so, and you might unexpectedly find an escalator waiting for you at the first landing. Spirit’s ways are ingenious and filled with infinite possibilities.

Following are a few things that you can do to dig your ditches for success:

First, create your goals for success.

What do you want? Whether it’s perfect health, harmonious relationships, financial freedom, fun and satisfying work, restorative recreation, some material items, or a deeper spiritual connection, decide what you want the outcome of your goal to be first. Use your words to describe the outcomes with gratitude. Instead of saying “I want to be healthy or in a wonderful relationship” describe what your life is like after you are healthy or have the right partner in your life. e.g. “I’m so grateful that I am physically fit, trim, toned and energetic in a pain free body that easily moves through life.” Or, “I’m delighted to be in relationship with my Divine Compliment of a partner who appreciates and values me and who I truly love and respect. We enjoy spending our lives together and are whole, healthy and complete in all ways.”

Next, review your completed goals with gratitude each day.

Set aside some time each morning to review your goal outcomes.  Will you write them out each day or read a previously written list? Will you look at images that you’ve compiled onto a vision board and say “thank you” for their manifestation into your life? Will you sit quietly and imagine yourself experiencing your life with the goals already completed? Whatever methods you choose to use, review your completed goals each day. This will stimulate your subconscious and intuition to point out possible steps for you to take.

Finally, have courage to take the first step – dig your ditch to show action faith.

If you get an intuitive nudge to buy something, learn something new, go somewhere, or to contact someone, do it and continue in the direction that you feel led as you check in with your CSO spiritual partner along the way. While you are taking those action steps, make statements out loud like:

  • “I’m going to go this way as I feel led by you, CSO. Correct me if there’s a better way.”
  • “Source of Intuition, I feel that you’ve guided me to take this step. Thank you for showing up to confirm that I’m on the right path, or slam the door shut and point me in a new direction for my higher and greater Good.”
  • “Your way, not my way Spirit. I know that I am divinely led with each and every step I take. Thank you for giving me a definite and obvious lead to realize my Good.”

If you feel unsure or scared to take the step, ask your CSO spiritual partner for more obvious leads throughout the day. You may get a thought to set a place at your dining table for the right partner to share your life with. Or, you may get an invitation to join a healthy cooking class or take a walk with a friend that’s part of your new healthy lifestyle. Say YES to these leads and take action to achieve the successful outcomes that you desire.

This practice of “digging your ditch” is the action faith required to receive the Good that you desire. As you continue facing your fears and acting in faith as led by your Source, you will find that it becomes easier to do. Your confidence and trust in the CSO will become stronger, and you’ll feel more assured as you take each step toward the good that you desire.

I shared a number of application stories using the tools above during my September 6, 2018 radio show, Abundance, Inc. on Unity online Radio. I encourage you to listen to the archived show at your convenience to see how Digging Your Ditch can lead to greater success in easier and more joyful ways. May you be blessed, prospered, happy, and healthy now and always. For more information about me and my work, please visit www.maymccarthy.com
