Our Words Do Not Return Void

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” -  Isaiah 55:11

It seems that as I grow in my spiritual understanding, I realize the truth in the bible verse above more clearly. I often prove the power of my words in ways that help me to achieve my goals. In my daily practice outlined in my books The Path to Wealth and The Gratitude Formula, I declare with gratitude my completed goals manifesting in my life and they often do or I receive something even better. Sometimes, I see evidence that I wasn’t careful enough in how I worded and declared my goals. The results haven’t always made me happy.

For example, I knew that my husband wanted to complete a scholastic endeavor that he’s been working on for several years.  I declared repeatedly; “I’m not booking any vacations or trips for us until you are finished with your project so that you won’t be distracted.” I started to proclaim this often beginning in February 2019. Time passed and several months later I booked a trip for us to go to a family reunion at the beginning of August and another trip that we purchased at an auction for mid-August.  My husband hadn’t completed his project yet and the day before our trip to the family reunion I had a freak accident and broke my arm.  I couldn’t go on either trip.

I understand that accidents are accidents and sometimes there are no explanations for them But, do I think I had a part in causing that unusual experience? I believe I did. The power of words is a truth practice that is not emotional; what comes out of our mouths are declarations of what we will receive. We activate energy to demonstrate in accordance with our words. Unfortunately, when we don’t “remember to remember” this truth we can receive something unpleasant like a broken arm.

I’m happy to report that my husband did finish his project this week successfully and I’m on the mend.

To help you to remember the power of your words, create a deliberate practice of being more conscious about the words that you speak.

  1. Create and review powerful goal statements

Start each day with writing down and speaking out loud your goal statements. This practice will prime your brain for success and help you to notice more opportunities to take steps to achieve and experience your goals.

  1. When speaking throughout the day, use affirmative reminders.

Throughout the day, follow your declarations with affirmative statements like “Everything now unfolds for my highest and greatest good.” Or, “My actions and outcomes are always in support of the Divine Plan for my life which is filled with great health, happiness and prosperity always.”

  1. Listen to your spoken words consciously – change them when necessary.

As I got closer to my two trips that I booked for August, I could have changed my words to allow for the two trips to be enjoyed with ease and grace while still proclaiming that my husband would successfully accomplish his goal. I wasn’t present and conscious as I continued to proclaim with love for several months, “I’m not booking any vacations or trips for us until you are finished with your project so that you won’t be distracted.” The Spiritual Law delivered what I proclaimed; we didn’t go on any vacations until my husband was finished with his project.

This is a reminder of spiritual truth and cause and effect. We have power in our words.  Florence Scovel Shinn writes about this in her book, The Game of Life. She said “Your word is your wand. The words you speak create your own destiny.”  This is a truth that can always be relied on. Choose your words carefully and wisely.  May you be blessed now and always.
