You Can’t Attract What You Despise

Have you ever overheard a conversation where someone was disparaging people that they clearly have never met? As I was at an airport recently, I happened to overhear a group at another table saying how much they despised a few people who are rich and have more than they do. They spent almost 30 minutes condemning these wealthy people for not sharing their money and resources with them and others. They used phrases like “it’s not fair”, “they must have taken an unethical short cut” and “they don’t deserve to have all of that.” I found it remarkable that none of these people had personally met the wealthy people that they were criticizing.

While listening to their conversation, it made me sad. I recognized that we can sometimes forget the Spiritual Truths and Universal Laws in which we operate. These Laws operate whether we recognize them or not.  I thought that it would be a great time to have a review and help you to “remember to remember” the following Truths:

  1. Your words, thoughts and emotions act as boomerangs.

Whatever you send out with your words, thoughts and emotions returns the same to you.If you condemn someone, you will be condemned. If you judge, you will be judged. If you focus on lack, you will experience more lack. The good news here is that you can begin today to use your words thoughts and emotions to send out what you want to experience. Send out love and love will return to you. If you give out appreciation, you will be appreciated. If you declare that we live in an abundant universe which you are fully participating, you will discover more opportunities to prove this truth and increase your abundance. Author Matt D. Miller states it this way; “If you always attach positive emotions to the things you want, and never attach negative emotions to the things you don't, then that which you desire most will invariably come your way.”

  1. Successes of others are examples of what’s possible.

Recognize that if others have achieved success, that means that you can too. Inventor Henry Ford said “If you think you can do a thing, or you think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” So, the key to success is to change our thinking. Take some time to identify people that are experiencing the success that you desire.Learn about their journeys to success. You may find that when they started, they had less than you do now.Mark Zuckerberg started as a kid in college. Jeff Bezos started in a spare bedroom. Oprah Winfrey started teaching at 6 years old on a dirt road behind her grandmother’s house. Now she teaches through media all over the world. Author Laura Ingalls Wilder published her first book, “Little House in the Big Woods” at 65 years old. She wrote other “Little House” series including the last one that came out at age 76. To shift your thinking and beliefs, find stories about how successful people started their journeys. Go to events to learn from others that are succeeding in industries that interest you. Get to know them and learn the steps that they took to succeed. As you do so, you will recognize that “if they can do it, I can achieve my dreams too.”

  1. Program your brain for success before others program it for failure.

Fitness expert Jack LaLanne said “You put junk in, you get junk out. You put good in, good comes out.” That’s the truth. If you wake up every morning and put “junk” into your brain that others on social media and in the news feel is important, you will notice more evidence of that junk increasing everywhere. If, however, you program your own brain each morning with the good things that you desire in every area of your life, you’ll notice more of that manifesting for you. Your good things should include great health, financial freedom and abundance, harmonious relationships, fulfilling and satisfying work, and balanced recreation and all of the money and support necessary to enjoy it.Take 20 – 30 minutes each morning and write out gratitude statements that describe the Good Life that you want.As you do so, your brain will filter what you notice throughout the day and attract to you the good things that you desire.

We live in an abundant universe. You experiencing more abundance does not diminish anyone else’s ability to do the same.  Be an example for others – experience your wonderfully financially free, happy and healthy life. In doing so, you’ll be giving everyone else a great example and the permission to do the same. I am grateful for you and wish you a delightful Holiday Season!
