This past week I had the pleasure and privilege to host my first radio show on Unity On Line Radio. My show is called Abundance Incorporated with May McCarthy and we discussed Balancing Spirituality and Success. When I think of being balanced, I have an image of a see saw or teeter-totter like the ones that I used to play on as a child. If my friend and I were the same weight, we could balance the see saw perfectly in horizontal alignment.  If one side was heavier than the other, the heavy load wouldn’t remain off the ground very long.

To be balanced, we want every aspect of our life to have the same weight, importance, proportion, and meaning. The aspects of life include your health, your relationships, your work, your finances, your recreation and your spiritual connection. All of these have to be in balance, or have a measure of importance, for you to enjoy a fulfilling, satisfying, healthy, free and prosperous life.

I am so grateful to have been the guest speaker recently at The Center for Spiritual Living in Seattle. This is where I first started teaching success principles in classes and workshops over 10 years ago. It was such a treat to see so many friends in the two services and have a well attended workshop to share more about The Gratitude Formula.

One question that was asked in the workshop had to do with action and faith.  An attendee wanted to know if she was a demonstrating “doubt” and lack of trust in her ability to grow a thriving and sustainable business by continuing with a part time job that supported her when she was between clients in her own business. I told her that she had to make a choice on how to view the situation. Based on that choice she would then speak and think about the situation in ways that were consistent with her views. As she took action with her words, thoughts and emotions to declare her truth in the situation, that would become her experience. She needed to choose between the following two views:

During a recent interview on Coast to Coast AM, a caller asked about how to deal with fear. I answered that he should use his spoken words to keep focused on what he desired the outcome to be, instead of dwelling on the fear about a future that hasn’t happened yet.  I believe that we are incredibly powerful and wherever we direct our words, thoughts, and emotions will have an effect. We will increase the likelihood of whatever we’re focusing on manifesting in our lives.

On the morning following the interview, I was doing my daily spiritual practice as outlined in my books The Path to Wealth and The Gratitude Formula, and the following scriptures from the bible came to mind;

It seems that every New Year, people are excited and optimistic about achieving their desires. I hear friends powerfully proclaim, “I want to lose ten pounds” or “I want to get out of debt.” Now that we are 1/3 of the way into 2018, how many resolutions have you achieved? When was the last time you visited your goals? Do you even know where you put your list of resolutions?

Please don’t despair – you’re not alone.  Many of us are excited about a new fresh start and then life’s normal challenges and demands take our attention.  We can forget to take time for ourselves each morning to revisit our goals and connect to our spiritual source. It can feel like life is choosing our course, rather than us.  Here’s some good news – it’s not too late to achieve those goals and resolutions that you had at the beginning of the year and to create the life that you love.

First, commit to using the right words when describing your goals. Our subconscious is designed to help us achieve whatever we put our attention on. To make the statement “I want to lose ten pounds” true, you always have to be wanting to lose. A better way to achieve what you want is to describe the outcome of your goal with gratitude: “I am so grateful that I have a physically fit, trim, toned, and energetic body that is pain-free and easily able to go on walks with my family and friends. We have so much fun together!” With a goal like this, your subconscious and your intuition are going to show up more often, and in more obvious ways, to point you toward steps that you can take to make those statements true.

When Life Gets Busy - Breathe

I’m here in New York City, the town that never sleeps, and I decided to pay attention to those around me as I walked around the city over a few days. There’s a vibration here unlike anywhere else that I’ve been.  People are working to be as productive as they can in every moment. I’ve witnessed people talking on the phone and drinking and eating while they quickly walk down the street.  I’ve seen others walk out into oncoming traffic and step around cars like a dance to get to the other side as fast as they can. These are busy people with places to go and things to do.

What I couldn’t get a sense of is whether they were enjoying themselves. I rarely saw people smile and had trouble catching them in the eye to acknowledge them with a nod and “hello”. So, why do I bring this up? Because, we can all get going so fast to be as productive as we can and forget to connect to our Spiritual source who can help to make our lives easier and more fun while accomplishing our goals in greater measure. To stay connected and achieve more of your desired outcomes, do the following:

SPIRITUAL LAWS ARE RELIABLE

Have you ever been pulled over for speeding in your car and received a ticket? That feeling of seeing the police car lights flash in the rearview mirror would bring tears to my eyes and make my heart race.  Most every time that’s happened, I’d later reflect on the situation and ask myself why I didn’t “remember to remember” that speeding or breaking the law would be expensive and cost me more time and frustration than I wanted.

I believe that Spiritual Laws should be treated the same way.  When we remember to operate within them to realize a benefit, we live a great life.  When we don’t, it’s costly and painful.

THE GRATITUDE FORMULA

I hope that 2018 is off to a great start for you and that you are receiving great insights to take more steps toward your goals.  One of my recent goals was to release a new book in 2018 that addresses some common limitations that people have when trying to achieve bigger or different goals than they’ve ever had before. My new book is titled The Gratitude Formula; A 7-step success system to create the life that you love  and it is scheduled to be released in mid-March.

I decided to write this book after spending the last 5 years traveling the world teaching goal attainment systems to corporations and thousands of people.  What I learned is that many people feel that big success is unattainable and that there’s a secret that others know that they don’t.  I want you to know – that’s a lie.

Success is a system, not a secret. The same system applies no matter the size of the goal.

In December each year, the topic of New Year Resolutions pops up in my community. Do you create resolutions and goals for each new year? Did you realize all of your intentions for last year? I hope so.

The custom of setting New Year’s resolutions began with the Babylonians some 4000 years ago and it was celebrated in March. Later, the Romans adopted the tradition and moved the celebration to January, honoring the god Janus. They made resolutions with a moral flavor: mostly to be good to others.

I think that resolutions that include being good to others is a great intention for me. How about for you?
