Your Words Have Power

Did you know that your words are more powerful that you might think?  Let’s do an experiment to see if this is true.  State out loud 3 times, “I don’t like arriving late for my appointments.”  Now, state out loud 3 times, “I’m delighted that I always arrive on time or early for my appointments.”  Even though the goal of each statement seems to be the same; to arrive on time for appointments, the first one will actually make you feel less energized and may actually make you late since that phrase, “arriving late for my appointments” is what your subconscious will hear and work to make true.

Choosing the right words formed into statements that are consistent with your goals should be something that we all pay heightened attention to.  Let’s try this with a few goals:

  1. Financial Freedom
    a. Do say: “I am so grateful that my income is growing and I have an easier time paying my bills each month.”
    b. Don’t say: “I really hope that I don’t keep running out of money each month.”

  2. Harmonious Relationships
    a. Do say: “I take such delight in having an easy, fun and harmonious time around my family, friends and loved ones.”
    b. Don’t say: “I hope that I don’t have to yell at my brother who always does something wrong at family events.”

  3. Good Health
    a. Do say: “I am happy that my body is gaining energy and vitality and that my muscles are becoming stronger to support me well.”
    b. Don’t say: “I wish that it wasn’t so hard and painful to get out of the house to get some fresh air and exercise.”

In the examples above, your subconscious will bring to your attention ways to make the statements that you say true. For the positive statements, you may see a $100 bill on a sidewalk that others passed by, or you may notice that a family member did something that was thoughtful which you didn’t expect, or you may wake up after a very restful sleep and feel that there is less pain in your body. With the positive statements, you’ll begin to recognize more possibilities.

So, choose your words carefully to declare what you WANT to have in your life.
